What book I like

Posted in Uncategorized on December 17, 2009 by ginaledwak

I really liked charm’s book “while you were asleep”. The colors were fantastic and the black background made them stand out. I also feel I’m a night person and felt connected to the book for that reason. Things and place look very different night or day.  My favorite picture in the book was the swirling lights across the two pages. Since I am mostly a visual person, this book caught my eyes. I think she did a very good job in putting her book together. It would definitely be a book I would buy if it was presented to me.

Art Event

I went to the Ordover Gallery in Solana Beach on October 30th to observe the exhibition on Elizabeth Carmel: Tuscany. I have never been to this gallery before and it was a little different being there. I observed the gallery more than I usually would. I found her artwork to be amazing and they almost looked like paintings. I love Italy and would love to see it in person and her photography made me feel the need to visit even more. Her colors gave me an idea for my panorama in my VSAR 302 class. The colors were various but seemed to flow and she must use a special kind of paper for the pigments to come out beautifully. Her photography makes me think about colors in nature, and how it tricks the eyes. You may look at nature with your naked and see nothing interesting. When you take a picture colors begin to appear, as you have never seen them before. Photographs can make everything look more beautiful. One of my favorite photographs of hers was the Tuscan Morning. I love the green of the field and as you go from the foreground to the background, the fog covers more area. I actually really liked Carmel’s work and I am very critical of photographers and artists sometimes. I do not have very many favorites and I am glad I went to this show and discovered her work. All of her work seems to have this certain tone [color] almost like pastel. The photographs also have a dream like quality because the colors are almost unreal. She seems to know how to work the camera and her photos pop with clarity. She seems to be almost like a female Ansel Adams because she does a lot of outdoor photography. Although I find both of their photography amazing most of the time I also find it boring sometimes because anybody can just go outside to take a photograph. After visiting the museum, I decided to look up more information on her work. I also found she has a blog and shows some of her work as she travels. I am still getting used to be the idea about using a blog to display my work. This is also an inspiration for me to continue putting my work online and get it out there.

a sneak peek at my book

I completely changed from my original idea.I wanted to do something different but i had so many ideas going. I decided what a great idea to show what I was thinking. The book shows the ideas I was thinking about for my book.

Collier Schorr

Although Collier’s photographs of  adolescents was interesting I did not find her as interesting. She  talked about the photographs in way that she tried to make herself seem smarter. the long explanations for them was not really needed. The “war” photos obviously needed have a back story and she talked about that because it wasn’t really obvious.

BOOK: Idea

Posted in Uncategorized on October 21, 2009 by ginaledwak

My idea for the book is very close to me because it will include things and people that I am close to. I feel though I am a little indecisive about it , but I want to be able to start and finish on the same idea that I started. The book will be like a memorabilia type book. I will be picking pictures of my friends and family, an an object that reminds me of them. I want to have consistency in my book so I was thinking of having one page of the picture and the other of the object. I will more than likely have some text. This picture is from San Francisco and  will add an object I have.m_caf8d88a083840179a6880cbcfdf8075
